Britney Spears released her new single, "Hold It Against Me" on 11 January, and in just one week, it topped the Billboard Hot 100 list. The song was released on the iTunes site without investing in advertising and still won the first position in the list, only in speed achieved by artists like Madonna and Michael Jackson.
"Hold It Against Me" also broke the record for iTunes sales the first day. Debuting first in 19 countries, the newest hit from the pop princess had the best first week, whereas female artists, breaking the record that until then had Taylor Swift.
Spears'new album hits stores in March. The title has not been disclosed.
